Hello and welcome to Kids Talk Sleep!
There are a lot of misconceptions about how much sleep kids really need. According to the American Academy of Sleep Medicine, infants 4 to 12 months old need 12 to 16 hours including naps, children 1 to 2 years old need 11 to 14 hours including naps, children 3-5 years old need 10-13 hours of sleep including naps, children 6-12 years old need 9 to 12 hours, and teens 13-18 years old need 8-10 hours of sleep. Additionally, the American Academy of Sleep Medicine says “Sleep is essential for a healthy life, and it is important to promote healthy sleep habits in early childhood”. If you don’t get enough sleep, you can prevent yourself from growing taller! Additionally, you can become more stressed, forgetful, and mean.
Thanks for listening and keep growing with sleep!
